Quality Competition:
Selection Process:
The
Holiday Cup averages 200 applications for 150 +- spots per year for entry into the event. We spend a painstaking amount of time trying to make sure every team is flighted correctly, we are not always right but we find as much information as possible to support our decisions.
· team history
· results (yes, a 1-0 loss to top competition is better than a 10-0 win against much lesser competition)
· placement in state, regional, and national competitions
· team make-up
· other events of acceptance
· rankings
Quality Event
We try every year to make our event better. We take constructive critism seriously and do everything possible to correct any problems that occurred in the previous year. Because our event continues to grow the preparation for the event gets more and more cumbersome, to try and eleviate some of the issues that occured last season we have decided to break the event into 2 events. Given our limited number of volunteers it became apparent that our Thanksgiving event was beginning to out grow the club. By breaking it up into 2 events we expect top be able to keep the event much more player and coach friendly, Fewer sites to mamange, fewer fields to maintain ( and hopefully fewer fields means better quality as well) Also this allows more teams to play on our better fields.
Fields
The Holiday Cup has had issues with the poor quality of our fields in the past, while we are not sure when it will open, we expect our NEW soccer complex to change that perception. Please forget what you have heard about our fields and try us out in 2008 for the competition, then return in 2009 when we hope to debut our New Soccer Complex it’s going to be a whole NEW PITCH!!! As stated above, by breaking our tournament into 2 tournaments we will now be able to double the number of teams that get to play on our better fields, and eliminate our worst fileds from the tournament.
